Helical Rack Pinion System. Helical gears feature teeth that are cut at an angle and follow a helical path along the gear’s axis. Unlike straight (spur) gears, where the teeth engage all at once, helical gears provide continuous tooth engagement along the length of each tooth. This results in smoother operation, reduced noise, and increased efficiency. While their rotation plane resembles that of spur gears, the angled, twisted teeth of helical gears allow for better load distribution and quieter performance.

Ball-screw`s perfect, but not always…

The illustration above demonstrates that as the length of a ball screw increases, so does its sag or deflection. During high-speed movements, this sag induces vibrations that propagate through the machine’s mechanical structure, ultimately compromising cut quality.

For this reason, CNC FACTORY employs a helical rack and pinion gear system on CNC machines sized 8×4 feet and larger, ensuring enhanced stability and precision even at high speeds.
